For most of his eighty years, lifelong Mineral County resident Bill Pancake has pursued a passion for aviation as both a pilot and an aircraft mechanic. He has earned many awards and recognitions over the years, and earlier this year, he was recognized as the 2020 honoree during Mineral County Days at the Capitol in Charleston. This week’s Magazine features an hour-long conversation with Bill Pancake. He shares stories, anecdotes, and reflections about flying and family, including his first solo flight on his sixteenth birthday, his marriage of 57 years, and his recognition by the FAA in 2018 as aircraft maintenance technician of the year. It’s a look into the life of an outstanding Mineral Countian in his own words on this edition of Mountain Streams Magazine.
